Have just checked for a system update and found that there was a 65Mb or so update that has taken my DTEK50 to version AAI795 and has updated the security date to 5 January 2017. My last update on 7th January 2017 gave the security update date as 05 December 2016. I am enrolled on the beta programme. Anyone else received this small update or know what it's about? I'm on Virgin 4G in the UK

This is the Jan5 patch level. All beta people have received it. It came out on Friday.

I wish people would be a little more specific when posting about updates. It's great to hear that people are getting them. But as someone who isn't enrolled in Beta... reading about beta users being up to date isn't really something us commoners can get excited over :P

I suppose if nothing else it tells us the update is about and BlackBerry are just fine tuning based on feedback from the beta people before releasing into the wild. Saves other posts saying BlackBerry are doing nothing.
Maybe an idea if people put "beta" in the post title.

I've just got the update this morning and not on beta so it seems like BlackBerry are starting to catch back up with the updates from 2month behind to two weeks behind.

Received the Jan update (build AA1795) within the last hour. I'm not on the beta program. The DTEK50 was purchased from shopblackberry and is on Bell Canada. Update size was 69.2 MB. IIRC the previous update (the Dec one) received about a week ago was 49.1 MB.

I ordered my DTEK50 from Amazon.com and received it in late December 2016. Immediately after setting up my device I received the November update. However, I didn't receive the December 5, 2016 update until last week. Then just a few days later, yesterday evening, I got the January 5, 2017 update. I was not in the Beta program so it appears to me that the updates rolled out in phased sequence over the period, perhaps in a manner determined by BlackBerry.

It was never two months behind. It was more than a month behind on multiple occasions. November security update received on December 6th, and December security update received on January 14. Late, but still better than majority of Android phones out there.

Yes, it was 2+ months behind, for me -- unlocked + not on Beta. I was on the November patch, 'til the other day, when it jumped all the way to the January patch. Weee!

Yes, got mine a couple of days ago as well. BlackBerry getting back on the security bandwagon, they promised and they are delivering. My DTEK60 gets the security patch immediately, but this 50 is finally up to date.

If it does not, then you can do it manually by going to Settings | About Phone | System Updates

I have a Shopblackberry phone and live 35 minutes from BlackBerry HQ. Go figure.
