Wherever you are buying the DTEK50 you can check the GSM frequencies it supports for example:
    GSM:

    UMTS:
    [+]850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz
    LTE (FDD):
    [+]Bands 28, 20, 8, 3, 2, 1, 7
    LTE (TDD):
    Bands 40, 41, 38

Short Answer: YES but being within coverage area obviously will have a bearing.

I use both my DTEK50's on T Mobile while in the U.S.

Unlike almost all other BB Android phones, the Dtek50 will not allow wifi-calling.

However, if you have FB and Messenger loaded, you can make and receive calls via Messenger.

    What a CLASSIC!

Not on T-Mobile, because of the network restrictions, but there are exceptions with specific software / apps / services.

Vonage customers, for example, can receive/make calls when connected to a WiFi network using the Extensions app.

Not sure what the restrictions are: my wife's Key1, my Motion and all out BB10 devices allow wifi-calling. From what I understand, the Dtek60 also works. The Dtek50 is a curious exception.

There was discussion about this in the early days of DTEK50 release two years ago, and it seems there was some kind of communication mishap between BB and T-Mobile.

Perhaps the memory of other Forum members may recall the details of the issue.

When the Dtek50 came out there was a review saying the phone was 100% compatible for t-mo wifi-calling. But, it turned out not to be. Which was confusing: was the phone somehow not compatible, or was T-Mo just not allowing it? That's what I recall. This was the review...
