My daughter changed the PIN of her DTEK50, later tried to unlock the phone and eventually she reached the last attempt before phone becoming locked!
We have the phone in charging just to maintain it ON, we can access it with "google family link" and her google account.

    Questions
    1) rebooting the phone is resetting the counter of wrong attempts?
    2) how to backup apps, settings and photos through her google account (which is accessible) ?
    3) if try the last attempt, the phone it will be factory resetted? locked? what is next? we are the legitimate owners, have original box, bills and access to the google account and family link.

    You can't reset the count.

All data from the device will be wiped, but SD card will remain intact (so long as it was set up as portable storage).

The phone, if enabled to do so, was backing up some stuff to Google automatically and periodically. You can't force an update remotely.

The phone will be wiped clean, but will start again as new. You will have to remember the Google credentials to bypass anti-theft.

Yeah not much you can do now.... if you had enabled the Google Backup Features along with Google Photo, then most her data will be safe to restore when the phone is reset.

Should be able to view photos via the Google Photo website.

    Find and manage backups

    • Go to drive.google.com. (with the Google account used with the phone)
    • On the bottom left under "Storage," click the number.
    • On the top right, click Backups.
    • Choose an option:
    • View details about a backup: Right-click the backup and then Preview Preview.
    • Delete a backup: Right-click the backup and then Delete Backup Remove

Thanks, it seems that apps and settings backup is active but not the photos!
Let's see when daughter will be brave enough to do the last effort!

    Sad to hear..

One good thing with kids... they like to post everything. Hopefully at least some of her memories are in the cloud.

Poor backup options is one reason my daughter moved from a Z10 (she lost some picture with a boot failure error) to iOS... while Android is much better than BB10, there are still a few issues. It's key to make sure of what is being backed up and what might need it's own backup solution

Finally daughter did the last attempt, was wrong as expected and phone resetted!
Phone has a SD card so photos and whatsapp/viber things were there.
Recovery was piece of cake and she is smiling again!

    Thanks

    Good to hear....

I would look into using Google Photos..... the worst case is she loses the phone, and then there is no SD Card to recover.

Google Photos will save HD copies (not the full original sizes) with no limit. Their are other Cloud Options out there, but generally you'll have to pay for the amount of storage you'd need.
