I recently bought 2 DTEK50s via online store.
one of them has failed already. top half of screen is unresponsive. any apps on top half of screen don't respond to touch. Have tried restarting it, everything.
Just to add to my frustration I can't get through to Blackberry support from the UK. I go through a whole series of options on their call line including having to put in the IMEI code of the phone, only to be either to be cut off or told that I am out of support hours.

I have been a big fan of BlackBerry for more than 10 years , but they are testing my patience this time.

I think that's what OP was trying to do but they need EMEI number to identify the unit but there's no way of checking that because the screen is unresponsive.

OP: try reaching there support team on twitter. I think you will have a better luck on there as they are active and will respond right away.

    Edit: Additional message to OP.

I had the same issue with my Z30 just recently, top half was unresponsive, two things had happened my daughter dropped the device in water and survived and later my wife dropped it off the ground, poor thing, not sure if they were contributing factors but the device was about 3 yrs old. DTEK50 is its replacement

I do not think the OP says he/she does not have the IMEI available, it sounds to me more like the response from BB was terrible/nonexistent. In that sense the twitter support team you mention might be an alternative...
