How do I ff a video on the curve or create a stopping point to return to later? It is annoying to start a video and then have to stop and start all over later
Maybe there is some software that does it

I don't know about "creating" a stopping point but if you just end the application without closing it the video should be on pause. When you go back to the video again it should be paused where you ended. In terms of fast foward if you scroll up to the bar that shows the progress of the movie and click on it you can move if foward or back with the trackball. I don't know if there's an easier way but this has always worked for me.
