It may have been posted before but not in anyway that came up in a search.

Verizon INCORRECTLY (inadvertant or not you decide) initially advertised the 8330 to have GPS, which was to be to be used inconjunction with VZ Navigator.

After some searching, not easy, I have finally found out that the GPS on the 8330 is disabled, except for E-911 since it is required by law for E-911. While the GPS option is there it is only there for security purposes in relation to E-911 which has to be there.

VZ Navigator uses cell triangulation only. It does not use GPS. Turn your phone service off and see if VZN works.

Recently (October) verizon updated their website and removed all traces of GPS with the 8330 even with VZ Navigator interaction.

Make of it what you will. Verizon has responded to requests with the same canned security response and from what I've been told they have no plans to turn on the GPS feature on the 8330 device.
