I would like to upgrade the software to 5.0 and it says the curve 8330 is supported on the blackberry website, so i download the file there and follow the instructions but when the blackberry desktop software launches the only options are latest 4.5 and lower.
Is there a way I can get 5.0 on my phone?
Is 5.0 on 8330 a good idea?
Thanks for the help, 70 steps is quite a lot but will give it a go when I got some time on my hands.
I installed 5.0 on my girlfriend's verizon 8330. The phone worked great initially at the improvements were more than welcomed but after a while the phone became very buggy, lots of lag and it would shut down randomly a lot. I think you're better off sticking with 4.5.

BBSAK takes care of most of the steps. Best way to do it from 4.5 to 5.0 is to use google sync to backup your contacts and calendar. make sure no pics/etc are saved on the device - should all be on memory card.
The 70 steps go fast -- many are very minor. Its worth a read for the first time through.
Be sure to use Shrink-A-OS because 5.0 is bigger than 4.5 and your poor old 8330 can run out of mem pretty quick. Those that are having problems with 5.0 are probably having memory issues. I done five versions of upgrades from the original Boost 5.0 and my BB has 31 mb free right now. The latest 5.0 version is at BBTweaks.com
