When I check my OLAM, Check Upgrade Options and click on the one line that is eligible for an upgrade (the 2nd line in my family talk plan), it takes me to the premier website. The price is $249.99 and Out of Stock. Anyway, it does not mention anything about a MIR like Xpimp's post above. Would I be able to get the MIR? If so, that would be $149.99 after MIB. If not, I will be calling customer care or going into a store to purchase the phone.

Why would you do this? I just purchased a TMO unlocked 8900 yesterday and I'm on AT&T. I should get the phone today. The price was right and I didn't want to do an upgrade with AT&T.

Why would you rather have the AT&T branded phone?

Are there software/hardware differences? Will I be able to access the free AT&T wifi hotspots around the us?

Yeah the ATT version was the first leaked pic. My guess is that TMO outbid ATT for firsts.

It'll have 4.6.1 in case you were hoping for 5.0. My bet would be 231 or 239.

I have an unlocked T-Mobile 8900. The only difference I see would be the ability to use ATT wifi (like at starbucks) for free. The profile to use these hotspots are preloaded onto ATT wifi enabled phones to connect automatically.

Unless someone knows of a way for me to do this with my T-Mobile branded phone?

Why not just use your EDGE while at starbucks? Im wondering if you're at starbucks all the time for hours at a time.. cause its such a small advantage of going to ATT8900. There should be no real difference between the two phones, accept the keyboard color.

I'm noticing that the ATT listing doesn't say the 8900 is new. Whereas the phone just below it, the Samsung Jack, is listed as new. Jerks.

Not sure why, but I can connect to ATT open WiFi at SB with my branded TMO 8900. My phone is still locked. I did not do anything special at all. Just scan then connect. I am not sure if it has to do with the fact that I have unlimited UMA calling plan as well.

I can connect too but my "wifi" icon stays grayed out. Meaning I'm not connected to the BIS server. When I open my browser I get to the hotspot sign in page.

Maybe it's different because I'm on ATT using a Tmo phone?

Not a huge deal...but I'll try to get it working again next time I'm there.

Bingo. Someone have an answer? I'm sure there is a way. Perhaps there is something that will be on the BB or RIM website that we can download. Settings maybe?
