Yes, it's a fair trade, memory is equal, both have 3.2 cameras. Both are at the end of there life cycle. Hardware Storm IS better, except it does not have a physical keyboard, but the Storm has more radios, it's GSM & CDMA, AND has 3G, 8900 is GSM & EDGE (2.5G) and below only. HOWEVER the 8900 has a better reputation. I'd say all and all it's a fair trade.

Depends on if you want a physical keyboard or not. But performance wise they should be close.

Its up to you. Is a physical keyboard worth it. Do you like the bigger screen of the Storm? Only you should come up with your answer.

Well I've never had a touchscreen so I don't know if I'll like it better or not which is why I'm trying to gather some opinions..

it is fair, but I think that the 8900 is better. Just because it has a keyboard and doesn't have the known issues of the Storm. But on paper they are pretty close to being equal.

It's not fair in my opinion. The 8900 is a good phone while the Storm is RIM's beta phone.

The 8900 has twice the memory, more stable OS, WIFI, and better battery life. Keep the 8900. Someday you'll thank me for advising you.

Many/most of the issues with the Storm have been resolved with the 5.0 OS. It's a pretty decent phone with that OS. You might want to go in to a verizon store and play around with one, IF you can find one. Or a Storm 2 which will give you an idea, BUT the Storm 2 screen IS better.

He's right, I mis-spoke, the 8900 has 256MBs, and the Storm only has 128MBs. Disagree on the OS thou, with 5.0 419 the Storm OS is very stable. He's right on the wifi. The Storm has a better CPU which include a graphics processor with Open GL.

It would be a decent trade if both phones are in same condition. My storm was an awesome phone, but wouldn't really recommend it. The 8900 offers more like wifi, more memory, and keyboard. 8900 would be my choice.

Too bad Open GL is useless on the Storm due to its limited RAM of 128MB. And I was going by "out of the box". Out of the box, the 8900 is the clear winner, even with the Storm's 3G capability.

8900 is worth a lot more, selling-wise. I would make the Storm owner add some cash or something, if that is your question is terms of "fairness".

I went from the 8900 to the 9530. I do not regret it. It took some getting used to, but the Storm is absolutely stellar once you get a good hybrid OS loaded up on it and you get used to the typing.
I was worried about the memory at first, but with proper management, it's hard to actually run low on memory. I do miss the Wifi, but I rarely used it on the Curve. Copy and pasting can also be quite difficult, but its a minor setback. Besides, I'd rather not deal with the trackball ever again.

In terms of dollar value, they're both around the same. I paid 100 for the Curve in average condition and 150 for the Storm in better condition.

For me it depends on the direction of the trade.
If you are giving up a Storm to get the 8900 it is more than fair.
If you are giving up the 8900 to get the Storm you have lost your mind

Well although I'm used to a Pearl which fit perfect in my little girl hands I find the 8900 harder to txt on. I'm gonna stick with the 8900 for for now. Thank you to every1 that responded...

8900 hands down. Storm 1 doesn't have open gl? I thought it was only the Storm 2 and 8530. My coworker has a Storm 1 and he's always dangerously low on app memory. He only has 4 apps with 5 mb left. I have around 20 with 85 mb left. Screen real estate is nice until I started try to text on the thing. Talk about clunky. If u want a touchscreen go Droid incredible on verizon.
