I haven't had any problems since upgrading. Have you tried calling Sprint to see if they have a known problem in your area? I had this happen to me the other day (after getting a replacement BB..so I thought it was the phone) and I called them & there was actually a service outage in my area.

I would actually suggest upgrading to the latest OS5 release, .7XX I believe. Almost everyone who has upgraded has reported very positive feedback.

Yeah, updating to the .732 OS will actually improve the reception of the 8530.

When I first got my 8530, reception was lousy until I updated my profile and preferred list (PRL). That may be in order, as the update may have wiped it out. Look under options-mobile network-BB key.

Updating your PRL (and Profile) would probably improve your reception.

Options > Mobile Network > hit menu key > Update Preferred List
Options > Mobile Network > hit menu key > Update Profile

    Worth a shot...

.732 is that a official Sprint OS or a hybrid? when I check for updates I keep getting no updates available.

732 is not a 8530 os. Jp hatfield is right. Try 734. There are 2 one is VZW the other is smart comm. Neither will show up as an update because they are not sprint. Download it delete the vendor xml and any other 8530 os's and install thru loader.exe

To be honest I believe both 734's are the same. Except the smart comm one is much bigger in size because of all of the foreign languages.

Some guy just explained me the difference between them on the 'Newest OS' thread. And you're right, they're the same except for the foreign languages add-on.
