According to Telus' new web site that went live today, there is a whole new help section for the 8350i ... and there is even a link for send text messages ... so I reviewed the link and it tells you how to send SMS with a Telus 8350i ... GREAT !!!! ... followed the instructions on the phone and guess what ... YOU STILL CAN NOT SEND SMS WITH AN 8350i ON TELUS !!!!!! SURPRISE !!!!!

thats kinda weird actually! As a telus rep, I dont know why they would say that. I heard that were supposed to get the update by june. so who knows what will happen...

Guys, I had the 8350i I spoke to the managers at Telus and Research in Motion. I went through that whole thing with them, that their site says this and that but still you cannot send the text message. I can switch to the Mike Device and I can compose MMS and SMS messages. This is the whole reason why they said to go to their SmartPhones. So I left Mike and got the Storm... I made them give me a damn special plan...

I spoke with Telus and they confirmed there is a update coming that will allow sms to work for blackberry on the MiKE network. It is expected in June but depending on the ability to get it working it could be delayed.

Well it is nice to hear that it is actally being worked on. For a while their it soiunded like we were being forgotten about. Then again I will only believe it when I see it.

Somebody screwed up at Telus, they posted the instructions on how to send SMS messages before they updated the phone so it can do it. We have been told they are working on the update and it will be ready sometime next month (i believe it when i see it). Keep checking on this forum as to when it is released. Telus has really dragged their a@@ on this one.

ok, I have some good news. The upgrade for the 8350i is for real. I have it on my phone. It was loaded for me. i don't have the actual file so i can't get it to anyone. But I do have it on my phone and I am able to SMS normally now. I believe they should be releasing it shortly. I hope this helps some people.
