- What you're asking is illegal and can cause serious damage to the device. My suggestion is to live with it and not risk damaging the device beyond repair.12-30-10 02:00 PMLike 0

"The removal of brand names, packaging or other material that would enable research participants to identify a brand."12-30-10 02:06 PMLike 0 - Right and when the OP goes online does a little research and sees the "serious damage to your device" line is BS then what? OP the software for debranding is available but honestly, factor in the search, the download time, shifting around of files, reading the poorly written tutorials etc its really not worth the hassle. So just keep it.12-30-10 02:06 PMLike 0

This is perhaps one of the most useless posts I've seen on here.12-30-10 02:13 PMLike 0 - Have you ever used the software? I've used it on dozens of devices and i never got "serious damage to a device" so quit talking about things you obviously know nothing about.12-30-10 02:17 PMLike 0
- Actually, no I have never used the software since I'm not in the habit of violating Federal Trademark and Copyright Laws. Obviously you are well versed in such things. The fact that you have have used the software on dozens of devices is irrelevant to the fact that others have attempted to debranded their devices and as a result damaged the device. That's all I'm saying, I'm not calling you out or saying it can't be done. I'm not trying to call you out, or start any issues with you. But the fact remains, that when done improperly, damage can result. Peace.12-30-10 02:26 PMLike 0
- Ok let's start over its obvious you felt i was attacking when i quoted you I apologize if it seemed that way. This thing that we're not supposed to be talking about is RIM software so to me its as dangerous as desktop manager. Most, if not all the horror stories you read about were from people who couldn't figure out how get the BB out of CAL mode hence the "poorly written tutorials" in my previous post.
Point is if the OP really wants to do it he will and i won't use scare tactics (which within 10 mins he can read and see they aren't true) just tell him the ends really don't justify the means. It really makes no point doing all that just to debrand a phone.12-30-10 02:38 PMLike 0 - Ok let's start over its obvious you felt i was attacking when i quoted you I apologize if it seemed that way. Illegal in a sense that you can get in jail for it or get deported or get fined? Illegal according to what exactly law of what exactly country?12-31-10 10:09 AMLike 0 - Also, debranding the phone will result in any warranty on it being voided. So if your phone does go kaput, I hope you have a spare $400 for a replacement

The only rational reason to remove the distributor's network branding is to conceal the original identity of the phone. It always raises suspicions about the true motive of those seeking to do it.01-01-11 11:50 AMLike 0 - BrantaRetired Network ModThe fact that it is "debranding" is not the reason. That's just the name for a process which can't be done legally outside the RIM service and manufacturing centres. The software required is not licensed or released for public use, it is supplied only to RIM service centres. In any case the stolen version which can be found on various east european and asian download sites is probably too old and may not support your phone.01-01-11 12:01 PMLike 0
