Is everyone one here paying the 50 bucks for the blackberry data package?

Do you have to have this package to check email?

What about blackberry maps, do I need to send and rec. data for that?

    Any suggestions?

I'd like to get the most out of my bb, but not at 90 dollars a month!

Mine was $30 for the unlimited data plan and an additional $15 for 1500 text messages. There's no way it should cost $90 for the data/text plans, unless you're talking about $90 TOTAL (including your minutes package).

I pay $40 for the BES but $50 for the BIS seems a quite excessive.

You are talking about unlimited data AND messaging for 50 a month

    My phone plan is 80
    BIS 30

    2nd line- 9.99 voice
    3rd line-9.99 voice
    4th line- 9.99 voice

But what saved me a ton is the new text plan from ATT

I was paying 19.99 unlimited EACH line, so 80
    new Plan: Family unlimited!!! 30!!

That alone saved me 50bux a month

And i use BBMaps, it does use data to download the maps

A BB is just a phone, without a BB plan!!

$30.00 should cover you with ATT not including text messaging. It sounds like you may have the BB unlimited bundle with unlimited text, messaging(pictures etc). This was a common plan from a year or two back. You should switch to the cheaper plan depending on how much text messaging you will be using to non-BB users.

Well I have 4 curves on me
    149.99 4000 min Fam shar
    30.00 unlimited SMS/MMS
    16.99 early N&W
    9.99 per line
    30.00 per BIS
But that's all cut 4 ways. We all use opera minn, jivetalk and google maps. So no need for anything else really. jive runs on your data but not every one is cool enought to have smartphones.

That 30 unlimited messaging family plan is nice as anything though!!!

You were in the same boat as me, and ATT came through!!!

They called me and suggested i switch to that, as it would save me nearly 50$$!!!

    Now thats customer service!!!

I have the 39.99 phone plan. Plus 20 for unlimited text.

I have to have unlimited text right now, unless I can talk my friends into getting bb's I typically only use half of my phone minutes, and currently have 1400 roll-overs, that i'll never use.

Texting is my main form of communication. After visiting att website, my only option seemed to be this:

    1. Call plan 40 $
    2. BB plan 30 $
    3. Unlimited text 20 $

    total 90$

If I'm wrong, and I hope I am, let me know.

Yes, you need the BB Plan for email and BBMaps.

    This is what I have-

    850 minutes 59.99
    2nd line 9.99
    bb unlimited 29.99
    200 text/mth 4.99
    telenav maps 9.99

    total 114.95

With ATT, if you belong to a credit union or work for the government or state, you get an additional 15% discount.
That discount usually covers all of the taxes and fees they add on, so my total stays around $115/month.

Did you get the BB plan with tethering by any chance?

Straight BIS is $29 plus your voice minutes and whatever texting plan you add to it.

If you have more than one line on your acct the Family Unltd text plan is definitely worth looking at.

Woot....I belong to Navy Fed Credit Union...gonna call them up to see if I can get in on the sweetness, and hopefully make my wife not as mad for me adding the datapackage to my curve. although when I suggested i drop her data on her iphone, she suddenly gave her blessings..

I can attest to the 15% discount. I'm a military member and actually get 19% discount because I had the discount when it was Cingular. AT&T only does 15% but kept the 19% for anyone who had the discount when they were Cingular.

You can go to the following to see if your company or government agency qualifies you for a discount. Enter your work email address on the right side of the page where is says You may qualify for employee discounts. Find out? Of course you could also call them as well. I hope this helps someone.

You're in the military in NW Florida? I grew up on Hurlburt Field Air force base, near Pensacola. Small world, keep up the great work!
