I plugged my 8900 into my laptop and was asked if I wanted to update. Sure! Why not? Because after the update is finished, a bunch of apps I downloaded are archived and they don't seem to be responding when I click yes when prompted to restore. If a bettery pull is necessary, will i lose all my contacts?

No, you will not. Never allow dm to upgrade for you. Always hit cancel at that screen.

I'm curious too. I was running rogers stock OS(.94 I think) and did a software update through DM to .250 with no problems. I didn't even download it, DM did it all. 10 minutes later I was up and running .250 with all my old apps still on there and working.

.231 is the latest official OS for T-Mobile... always look at one of the top sticky threads to see what is the latest Official OS here for the 8900.
