You should immediately take apart your BB and place it in a bowl of rice for a few days. If you recently backed up on Desktop Manager, used gmail sync, or synced with Outlook, you can retrieve your contacts. If not, you're out of luck.

OP, I am confused. You list you device as an 8900 but your carrier as Verizon. Does Big Red have a small GSM network tucked away somewhere?
