There. Now all you gotta do is select the 8530 device and click next, just like before, but without the warning.

    Argh!!
I just upgraded to .508 today.
Guess I'll wait a few days to see how .508 performs for me so I can make comparisons when I upgrade to this one.

It's actually .601, and it is up and running beautifully on my 8530. Fixed the signal bounce issues I was having with .508. Everything else is yet to be determined.

I seem to be having trouble with this one for some reason. I downloaded the file off blackberry and installed it to my computer. Now when I go open my blackberry desktop manager, it clicked the search for software updates and there was no update, and I clicked search for updated applications and couldn't find it there either. What am I doing wrong here?

oh my bad, had a brain fart. forgot I had to still delete the vendor file since its not from my file provider.

jtm, it's best not to use DM for it anyway. Just delete the vendor file, and scroll up and click on loader.exe. If using Vista or Win 7, right click and click "run as administrator". Everything else is simple.

Care to get a mod to stick this and fix the topic? (.601 really instead of my messed up .610)

The last time I asked I was told to email [email protected] (I THINK this is the e-mail.) I think I was lucky last time getting it stickied right away. Hopefully they can do it soon. I just got done upgrading and restoring my device. Excited to see how it runs.

I think battery life is the same as the .508 version. Still a little early to tell though. And for some reason when I installed it my bb appworld was deleted so I had to reinstall that.

RIM Leaks Virgin Mobile USA BlackBerry Curve 8530 | PhoneNews.com
BlackBerry Curve 8530 OS 5.0.0.601 Official; Virgin Mobile USA Getting It? - BlackBerry Leaks - Blackberry news, software, videos, info, reviews, previews

RIM appears to have accidentally revealed that Virgin Mobile USA will get their first true smartphone.
After the demise of Virgin Mobile’s acquired Helio unit, the carrier has languished without any logical 3G data path. Boost Mobile on the other hand has, in the same time, switched back to CDMA, and is offering a $60 3G BlackBerry plan, using the Curve 8330.Now it appears that Virgin Mobile will one-up Boost Mobile with the release of a the Curve 8330’s successor, the 8530. RIM’s software download page lists a single download for Virgin Mobile; a BlackBerry OS 5.0 restore file for the Curve 8530 smartphone. The file name and format match Virgin Mobile and the Curve 8530.

Virgin Mobile has yet to announce any type of smartphone offering. The companies previous highest-end device is the Pantech Ocean 2 from their former Helio unit. The Ocean 2 has since been discontinued, and all Helio phones were deactivated with the shutdown of the Helio unit. That left the Kyocera X-TC and LG Rumor 2 as their highest-end devices sold currently.
This consolidation of offerings comes also in the wake of Sprint’s Prepaid Group consolidation. Both Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile are now fully first-party offerings of Sprint. Sprint remains the only Tier 1 carrier in the United States to not leverage its own branding in the prepaid marketplace.
