Once I click "next" again, it starts to go through the uploading phase and I then reinstall my battery. There are four parts to this process that are listed on my screen. These four parts are:
    1. Load JVM and system software
    2. Wait for device initialization
    3. Read application configuration
    4. Loading applications

It goes through part one fine and then moves on to part 2 but it will not start the process for part two and I get a message that says "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation."

Any idea as to why I can't complete my upload? I'm trying to get my phone up and running so that I can atleast try to get my contacts off of it. I'm glad y'all know what y'all are doing because I sure as heck don't. I appreciate y'alls help!!
The Unable to Connect During a Multistage Loading Operation error is port related. If you are using a laptop, try a desktop computer, or if you only have a laptop computer, make sure the laptop is plugged into a charger as the error may have something to do with the port not getting the full current/voltage of the USB specifications (5.0 volts). If you are using a desktop, try another computer if available, or try another USB port.

I don't have a desktop, but my laptop is connected to a docking station that is plugged into the wall. I have tried uploading through 4 usb ports on this thing and I get the same results everytime. Is there something I have to delete prior to uploading the new OS other than the "vendor" file??

    Give it some time...

You'll most likely get the chirping at some point on a conversation.
.160 is great ... I prefer the chirping over the slowness of .131. I guess no one has found a fix for the chirping (as from giving a beta hybrid a try)?

I have a 4.5.0.131 hybrid OS with 4.6 and some 5.0 files running now. All the stability of .131 with no chirping , and very fast and responsive. Details are on page 41 of this thread, 2nd or 3rd post from the bottom of the page:

Hey man! Well I have been following your advice and trying the hybrid OS's on my 8330 Curve. I recently loaded your hybrid using the 4.5.0.131

It shows me my app version: 4.5.0.160(253) and platform 3.4.0.25

I ran only the .160 os when it came out and the only problem I had with it is that It hourglassed all the time and would completely lock up.

I got tired of missing calls because of it and so I downgraded to .131

Well I got tired of getting off the phone and having to reset my connections to recieve data although it would show 1XEV after getting off the phone.

I then decided to go with you hybrid OS....I havent had a problem really except I have noticed this week that the data signal switching has started to come back. Do you have any suggestions?

As much as Id love to have the Tour, I think RIM needs to work on stabilizing their apps and OS's instead of how many bb's they can have come out!!

Thanks for all your support to this forum it really gives people reassurance when they decide they want to get rid of their bb's due to problems.

You are running the .160/.131 hybrid OS with the .131 radio now? Or are you using the .163/4.6/5.0 with .131 radio hybrid (so many hybrids )? And the network cycling is a problem lately (EV1X, 1X, ev1x, 1x)?

I've never heard of the .160/.131 or the .163/4.6/5.0 with .131 radio hybrids having the network cycling problem.

Im not sure what hybrid I used. It was one of the last ones you have posted here lol. But I dont see the 1XEV cycle like you are saying. But I have had instances when certain themes dont project the current signal reading so its nothing new.

As far a BB OS I have installed on my computer. IT is .160 and then I have a zip of .131 files that I incorporated.

So I am guess that since you havent heard of the radio cycling problem with this version....is it possible to run .163/4.6/5.0 hybrid on my 8330? mine isnt the 8330m. Well just let me know and if I can. I will try to install it tomorrow night and see if that helps. Thanks for all your help! Too bad CB doesnt have TRUST!

At this point I would recommend you either stay with the .160/.131 hybrid, which is what you are on now. The signal strength cycling seems to happen on all the later OS builds, but doesn't seem to cause dropped calls.

If you want to upgrade to a hybrid with 4.6/5.0 files, then I would recommend the 4.5.0.131 base OS with 4.6 and 5.0 files added. Follow the instructions I posted in this thread:

    http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/833...6/index41.html

    It's on page 41, post #613.

In a nutshell, you will be Uninstalling the .160 OS you have installed on your computer with Control Panel's Add Remove Programs. Then download and install the Sprint 4.5.0.131 OS:

    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

Then download and extract the 8330 .rar file on page one of lyricidal's hybrid thread (link above). Then follow my instructions on page 21, post #311, but skip the part about pasting in the .163 + 5.0 files, we are going to leave the base OS as .131 for better battery life. Then sort the files in the .160 + 4.6 + 5.0 file (8330 .rar file) and paste in only the files modified on 4/15 and 4/6, I believe it was, into your Java folder in the 4.5.0.131 OS folder in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research in Motion\Shared\Loader Files folder. Load the OS to your BB.

You can run 4.5.138 on your 8330m. There's a sticky for it in this section as well.

I'm running the 4.5.0.160 on my VZW 8330 ... works fine, aside from chirping. Might check out the hybrid next...

EDIT: I think you're busting his chops ... now that I see you too have VZW, oops.

EDITx2: Can you put a link in your signature or link me to the 131/160 hybrid? I've seem to be having trouble locating it.

This is the straight Telus 4.5.0.160 OS. The other hybrids use files from other OS builds (4.6 and 5.0 for lyricidals hybrid) and the radio file from 4.5.0.131 for the problems seen by Verizon users (chirping).

As mentioned many times in this thread, there are several problems with this OS when used by Verizon users.

Unless you are experiencing speakerphone blast when answering a call, you might be better off staying with 4.5.0.77.

If you weren't talking about hybrid OS builds I apologize. There isn't much difference between the 8330 and 8330m OS files, other than you won't be able to load the "other" OS that isn't for your device.

If your hybrid uses the .160 .sfi radio file, it won't work well for Verizon users. And there are a lot of Verizon users out there.
