Ok, I am running Windows 7 beta 7100...would there be any issues with upgrading my 8330 software?
I'm not sure about your Beta version, but Win 7 and upgrades didn't work before.

Do you have another PC/Laptop running Vista/XP? That would be a safer alternative.

    Wow... a lot of problems.

I did the update from .131 without any of the problems, and I used DM 4.7. I have a wireless connection so it's on all the time.

One thing I do notice is my connection signal never goes above or below two bars. It just stays at two. Other then that everything runs great.

Hey everyone! Not to be a bother but I am trying to help a freind of mine out with her verizon 8330. Does anyone know the latest official OS update from verizon. She is currently on .77. Has there been an official update since? I have tried using DM and it's saying the phone is on the most current OS.

What is the Hybrid OS? I've never seen that before... What's the difference between it and the standalone .160?

As it is, the standalone OS builds have problems which you can read about in their respective threads.

A hybrid OS build uses a file or files from another OS, substituted in, in hopes that a better (more stable, and problem free) OS results.

I am still having problems trying to upgrade to 160... I have tried with AppLoader and with desktop manager 4.7 and with and without my internet on. I get a fatal error when it says "Connect to device rom" I have tried different usb ports, deleting and re-downloading 160, and deleting and re-downloading desktop manager 4.7.

I have upgraded 2 times prior to this update so I doubt it is a problem with my usb port on my phone. Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions???

First you should get rid of 4.7 and get 4.6.

After you do that restart your PC and try the upgrade again.

Also go to Options/Status on your BB and make sure you have ESN numbers.

Upgraded from .138 to .160 and all of the problems I was experiencing have gone away. No lag/no speaker blast and no RF issues.

I am with VZW and I haven't seen the chirping issue as of yet.

I've been running the 160 OS since the first day and have not noticed any problems until yesterday.

I use a bluetooth connection in my vehicle and last night about 9 minutes into a phone call I heard high pitched chirping and I looked at the NAV display and noticed the call timer disappeared, which I thought was odd. Well after about another 8-9 minutes the same noise occurred and when I looked at the display the call timer was back.

Has anybody else seen or noticed this.....?

Looks like I might need to load Frankenberry, but I'm a little reluctant, since loading the 160 OS and needing to reset most all settings.

thanks for the info and my upgrade to .160 was a success!!!!!!!!! one question, when you upgrade do you click the add tab to see what other apps are available? thanks you guys...... and i am on the sprint network so you can do it.........

The add tab is for if you have any apps that you've downloaded on your PC to install on your BB via DM.

Not all apps can be downloaded OTA sometimes you might download an app in the form of a zip file and you'd use the add tab to find the app.

I hope all that makes sense

Stills fails at "Connect to the device rom"...
ESN numbers are there too. Is the phone supposed to reboot at that point?

Just wanted to report that I also have the speaker "squelch". I downgraded to .77. I was running 131 for a while with no problems except a speaker blast from time to time.

It should have either 4.3 or 4.5.0.77.

You can load this OS on her BB but I wouldn't. VZW users are having issues with this OS.

I would recommend .131 or the .160/.131 hybrid.

Have any of you done a before and after speed test for data?

    I used this app: ...
Speedtest your BlackBerry EDGE, 3G, EVDO or WiFi connection | BlackBerryNews.com

Here are my results: DL:470.86 kbs, max 506.11 kbs, Up: 37.3 kbs, max 53.19 kbs

    ...
    Thanks for the good link.
My DL speed is: 348.49 kbs, max 374.58 kbs
UL: 187.96 kbs, max 207.18 kbs

I did the test twice only.
I have curve 8330 from sprint. have a hybrid OS ,160/,138.
    Something for comparison.
