I acquired a BB Curve which was an ex company phone and need to set it up so I can use it. With the help of this forum I have been able to overcome the password issue (by doing the wrong password 10 times then resetting) and have been able to unlock the phone. I have also managed to synch with outlook and make make calls & texts on the phone.
Now I am stuck and would appreciate some help as I can't seem to find the answer and I suspect it's something relatively simple.
I now want to get the internet working (using virgin) but I get the message "unable to connect to internet, if problem persists contact service provider". Also I am unable to send picture texts which I suspect is linked. I suspect that I haven't quite set up the internet bit - but am not really sure what needs to be done.
I would really appreciate some help from you guys, many thanks
The 8310 doesn't have wi-fi, which means you'd have to have a data plan in order to get on the internet. Might have something to do with MMS messaging too, not 100% sure of that.
Does Virgin offer blackberry data plans? What carrier was the bb originally with?
I don't think virgin offer specific blackberry data plans, but they have something called 'mobile on the web' which is 30p a day in addition to your contract on a PAYG basis
I assumed that would give me internet access - maybe thats where I am going wrong?
The website states that they do 'web access' and it talks about maximum downloads of 25Mb then presumabley it should be okay? I have also noticed that they have got some blackberrys on the site as well
I have just someone at virgin and they confirmed that I do have the correct data plan but that I need to contact blackberry for the settings hmmmm thought that sounded odd so phoned again and someone from the technical dept is going to give me a call back
