    Just got a 8520..

One of the things that I can't solve is the following

I can connect to my WIFI but the WIFI icon stays dimmed..
According to the manual this means that the Wifi is setup correct but that I cannot access my BIS through the WIFI

How do I solve this as it's a bit stupid to use data from my dataplan while I a have access to a WIFI network..

    Txxx

If the Wifi symbol is greyed out it is not connected to your wireless router... it's only connected when the Wifi symbol is White.

Check out the Wifi How To in my signature below.

Try resetting your wifi router... Switch it off and turn it on after a minute...

    I had same problem.

Found that a greyed symbol means you have picked up the router wi-fi signal but are not connected to the internet.
Problem with mine was that i entered the network key/password incorrectly (in small letters rather than capitals it seems!!).

Retyped network key and now it is working fine.

Same thing happens if you try to conect to another WI-FI ie The Cloud etc or a Hotels wi-fi. You can connect to the the signal but the symbol will not go white until you enter a password or sign up and pay etc.

Cant say for sure obviously without seeing ur phone but i reckon you need to enter your network key correctly.

MMM.. I thought the PDF manual said something else...

ie. As I've said in first post.. Greyed out means connected to the router/but not to the BIS server..

And I'm pretty sure of it.. As out of the blue wo changing any settings it went to Full connection
