    All,

My friend here abroad entered his password worng too many times and the phone locked up and gave a status message that it is wiping the device. Is there anything that can be done to reverse/fix this? Thanks as always. My UMA is working perfectly abroad. Had some issues initially. I think it also may have helped to connect to an secure open network at a cafe that would provide their pass phrase as I couldn't get it to work on any other networks.

DM Backup file is the only way to get your data back, unless they have some external backup system like SmrtGuard.

    Your friend is an *****...

And yes only a backed up DM file can save his info.

Only a backed up data. And can be restored only via DM.

I'm sorry. But why would someone set a password, and let one's friends play with it, when one doesn't have a backup, and one should've known that too many wrong password would end up losing data?
