My blackberry 8900 keeps shutting off for no reason, even with a full charge. I try to hit the power button and it wont turn on. Lately, i've started to take out the battery, leave it out for awhile before putting it back in and then it turns on at its own pace. Hitting the power button does nothing. Prior to last week, the shutting off only happened once in a blue moon. Now its happening multiple times throughout the day.

I thought maybe my inbox for text messages was too full & needed a cleaning so i deleted everything, still nothing happened.

I first time this happened i thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the USB charger & the light wouldnt even come on to indicate that its charging.

Can anyone help? How do i use a phone that keeps powering off & wont power on? Has anyone else experienced this?

Has your device gotten wet or been in areas of excessive heat? Check the liquid damage indicators under the battery and on the battery.

    Anyone else can help?

There are some things you should determine
first about the device before contacting your
service provider and requesting a replacement.

Check auto on/off is disabled, check if your
power button functions, install your service
provider OS specific for your device.

    Auto on/off
It could be that auto on/off is enabled and is causing
the mysterious turning off, double check in options
    and disable it.

    Power button
Does your power button function at all, head into
options, then click the power button, this should
send the screen back to the home screen.

*if auto on/off isn't the reason the phone turns off
and the power button fully functions. Don't panic!

    Install OS
Its time to download the latest OS for your
specific device from your service provider
    And install using desktop manager.
From a computer go to official blackberry site
and in software device download the OS to the
computer, then install the OS to device using
    desktop manager.

Now if this doesn't resolve the problem, call
your service provider have them transfer call to
blackberry technical support and explain the problem.
Blackberry has a 1 year manufacturer warranty
and will send you a new or a refurbished device.

    Thanks. That did not help.

I even took someone elses advice and wiped the entire BB clean and it deleted everything.

It still shuts off. What does the liquid indicator on the battery mean?

Sorry to give this one a 3 year bump up but i thought it might be of use for 8900 users. I had exactly this problem and tried everything. Reset, reinstall, update OS, new battery etc..... I was at the point of tearing my hair out in frustration after rebooting 30+ times every day.
I realised maybe it was the battery connection so I wedged the battery tight to its connectors and it hasn't reset once in the last two weeks. This may work for you, it worked for me and my BB is back to perfection.
