On some blackberry 8900s ,when you go into the menu page apart from seeing all the icons there is a horizontal window in the centre of the screen showing a line of icons which you can scroll through using the trackball. Unfortunately, my phone doesn't have this feature (apparently phones on the Orange network do). if anyone knows how I can download this feature, I would be grateful to hear from them.

That is the app switcher. If you hold down your BB Menu button for a couple of seconds it will appear. You can also access it by menu clicking twice and choosing switch application.
