this update took 4 hours and then crashed my phone. when it finally booted up all my emails and contacts were gone. had to install a backup to get all my stuff back. not sure if i want to mess with it now. Not messing with this update.
Has anyone has issue with that app? I have OS 4.5.0.175 on a Curve 8330m. It comes on automaticly at night (2am consistantly) does a scan and prompt for a command. If any of radio apps are running it cranks up the volume. The only way to stop it is by pulling the battery or letting it finish.
Can someone share the steps with me on how to do this software upgrade? Never done this before. I have an old 8330 curve but its not activated. I no longer have the DM and was also wondering where would I place all of my back ups?
Can place my back ups on a blank Cd disk or what?
I wanna see how this turns out because even tho its not activated, can still use it for picz, vidz, voice notes, ringers, mp3z & I also have important schedules on my Calander & notes on my memo pad & task lists as well.
.186 is leaps and bounds above .175 for me - I know it was just a minor tweak release but it fixed the profile crash issue and my bberry is noticeably faster, memory is more stable, battery life is longer.
I downloaded this two days ago and My phone has been working better than before. Only problems I am having is with the FB app. and that is a seperate issue in it's self.
I've been uber happy about .186! No problems. Apps:
Facebook
Myspace
IM+
Pandora
Slacker
Weather Eye
BB app World
Opera
And Bolt...still holding up at 31 MB free

Sooo, no one had any issues upgrading theirs? I've attempted to upgrade to .186 three times and each time it gets hung up at "Retrieving wirelessly delivered application modules". Try clicking cancel and nada. So I have to cross my fingers and simply disconnect. Ideas??
Is anyone with the 8330 curve having problems with the new version and receiving emails from comcast?
it says
Action Required: Leave messeges on server
Im not sure how to do this....can anyone help?
I tried following the steps in the message but they do not seem to apply. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. Yahoo email to phone works fine.
i joined my.blackberry.com and entered my device then the carrier and hit search updates. i downloaded v4.5.0.186 (platform3.4.0.59) for my Sprint 8330m
no problems
Why did you go to any site for the up grade. I have a blackberry 8330m and I went to options, advanced options , update and got the update over the air. I understand you need to be connected to a PC to upgrade to 5.0.software.

Currently I am running 4.5.0.131. The only available updates my phone is showing is 4.5.0.175(I checked for available updates). Do I need to upgrade to .175 before I can upgrade to .186?
After installing MCP 0.9.3.0 Beta 6, I decided to try an OS upgrade to this (I had been running US Cellular's standard 4.5.0.169). Like others, I also noticed more free memory. Since it was my first time trying an OS upgrade, thought I'd share my experience with anyone else thinking of doing one.
The MCP has the feature of being able to select from a pick-list of any OS you happen to have downloaded to your pc, so that's pretty slick. Also, you don't have to mess around with trying to find those vendor files and deleting them.
Prior to doing the upgrade, I backed up using DM and also used BBSAK to backup 3rd party files. After the upgrade, the shortcut for DM on my pc desktop wasn't recognizing my BB. However, when I connected thru MCP and launched DM, all was good and I was able to run a restore and get back all contacts and most of my 3rd party apps.
For some reason, I haven't been able to get back a couple 3rd party apps I had purchased online from Crackberry. I tried both DM and BBSAK with no luck. Except for that, I'd say the upgrade went very smoothly.
