For install instruction to load any carrier 8520 OS on your BB:
1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It may take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.
The browser looks slightly different in this build.
It's been stretched it out so there's no gap at the top. You now don't know which browser you're using, or whether you're on wifi or gprs. Not sure I like it...
EDIT: Just did the App World cache clear (Alt R S T) and for some reason everything is back to normal with the browser
All my apps still work fine (WLM, App World, Google Maps, Facebook, BerryWeather & Pocket Express).
Can't see any other changes... certainly no photobucket link
I've read that RIM are planning to officially launch 5.0 at the end of the month, to coincide with the new Bold 9700 release, and full Mac compatible DM.
After carrier testing and approval, it shouldn't be too long before we see 5.0 rolling out for all new models.

Can anyone please help me, I have 2 tmobile Blackberrys, A 8900 & 8520, I downloaded both of them 1 at a time and installed them and then i opened of the BB software and the new software would not come up anywhere, It said up to date and I looked at the version I have and its the old version that Tmobile is up to and I am having a hardtime here, I thought that the new software is automatically supposed to install and show up, please help me.
Thanks..
If i use DM every day to sync etc and have internet connection, will any updates for OS and/or any official Blackberry apps automatically prompt me when i open DM?
Or do i have to download zip files and mess around with ALX files etc?
Ie - When 5.0 is released and BBM 5 etc, will my DM pick these up and prompt me to install??
When 5.0 is released and BBM 5 etc, will my DM pick these up and prompt me to install??
Yes, you will receive notification of firmware updates through DM, but only those for your particular carrier.
I don't think BBM5 will appear as an update notification though, as this should be part of the new 5.0 firmware.

Just updated the OS, so far I can tell my phone boot up a little faster, and I was kinda surprised the update process took only 13 minutes. My last upgrade was like 50 minutes on 8320.
