i just had a rep from rim call me and tell me that i won the contest i entered, here is the problem i won the phone but they need me to follow the terms to get the phone does anyone know what those terms are, do i have to sign a new agreement or is it just the free phone. another part to this story is i ordered an 8900 on friday with a 2 year agreement which should be here tommorrow so technically im going to have 2 phones now instead of one any thoughts.
I think you're fine on the taxes, I wouldn't worry about it. You can ask someone but I wouldn't worry about it. I know at the casino they don't mess with you when you win less than $1000.

That's why they always on my back
(jk, however they actually didn't do anything when I won $1700 in poker )
I'm a Marketing Director and I've put together plenty of contests. Typically if a prize is $599 or less, the company just needs to collect your contact information. If the prize is $600 or more, you will need to complete a W-9 form for tax purposes. You will need to report it as income.
If you work for a company everything you "win" is suppose to be taxed as income.
here is the update this contest was to win 6 blackberries one for me and 5 of my friends, it was a contest advertised here on the website on jan 16, i guess the contest was according to these papers for 6 blackberry 8900's and an individual voice and data plan for 3 months free from tmobile, the bad part is i have to claim all the phones on my taxes which is valued at 4500 and i have 15 days to decide if i want to do it or not.
