Can anyone comment on the strength of the vibrate alert?
I have read a few reviews and the impression is not too good.
I would be grateful for some feedback as this is one of my main priorities.
Thanks.

Yeah my roomates pearl's viberate alert is way strong then my 8900 and hopefully there's some way to make it stronger.

Its much weaker than on the 8310, I've had some give up their 8900 in favour of the 8310 because they could not feel their 8900's vibrate in their pockets.
Well I have buzzme added to my 8900 it feels stronger. Well to me atleast it does.

It's funny how RIM couldn't get it right between the two Curves. The vibration of the 8310 is normal whereas the ringer is very quiet. It's the opposite on the 8900 where the speaker is ridiculously loud (with .133 anyways) and the vibration is almost nonexistent.
Compared to my 8820 and previous BB's, the vibration is pretty weak. That sucks because I have my device on vibrate all of the time and miss calls all the time.

My bolds vibration was stronger. Hopefully a OS update will fix the problem
Yeah, .133 is definately too loud...
The vibrate is super weak!!!
The 8300, 8310, 8320 are all much stronger.
the vibration is almost non-existent but guess what with .133 you have a really loud speaker
It's low and I have my phone on vib 90% of the time, but I still feel it when its on me. When I have it sitting next to me I don't which I like most the time.
oooooh vibe me again!
ha sorry this thread made me giggle :]
Now I get the stronger vibe thing, but if someone says they need a stronger vibe and need it to last for a half hour, that may be a little suspicious
Stronger and longer vibe app for BB users of a certain persuasion
My 8900 is definetly weaker than my 8100. I have to set my 8100 on top of a napkin at work because it was so loud when it vibrated against my desk. If I set my 8900 on a napkin I barely hear it when it is right next to me.

The Vibe is good IMO.....not so loud that everyone in the room hears it when it goes off!!
It would be nice to have an adjustment for the vibe feature!!
It's definitely weaker than the curve 8320 and pearl 8130
There's nothing like a multi-functional device! ;) I have not heard anyone using an upgraded os say that the vib issue has been resolved. Maybe it's still in the works (I was going to say coming but that would be to much huh?)
Thanks for all the responses guys.
The vibrate is very weak on this phone. I just downloaded the buzzme application, and at least I got my phone to vibrate and ring at the same time now. But I get a lot of text messages, and I can't really feel the vibrate. Even with the buzzme, it's still not strong when the phone rings. I switched from a Motorola Q9h, and that phone has the strongest and probably the loudest vibrate alert of any phone I've ever had. I actually was considering switching back just because of that. The bold is a great phone, but RIM needs to make the vibrate selection a little better and stronger. These corny old 1-3 vibrate alert options are garbage! Hopefully someone will find and application that makes the phone vibrate more stronger. If wish I knew a way that Icould take the vibrate settings from my Motorola Q and put it on my Bold.
I also have dowloaded the Buzzme app. It works great. I don't reaaly notice it beaing stronger. It may seem stronger because it's vibrating non stop. This phone's vibrate is very weak. I had a Motorola Q9h before the Bold, and the vibrate was the strongest ever. It vibrated the entire time the phone rang. And it was very strong, even for text messaging. That's the main problem I have with the bold. The strength of the vibrate for text messaging sucks. Buzzme is good for when the phone rings. I need a stronger vibrate alert in general. RIM needs to stop the BS and get their crap together. I already sent them an email complaining about the poor vibrate alert settings. This is my second Blackberry, and they still haven't got it right. They need to take the phone settings from the Motorola Q9H and put them in the Blackberry bold! Then this phone will be perfect.
Welcome to Crackberry!
Thanks for the information. However this is the 8900 forum.
Do you think the weak vibration is strictly a hardware or softrware issue, or a combination of both? I know that it's most likely a hardware issue but I am being very hopeful that they can somehow fix this with OS updates..

Coming off of an 8320, the vibrate on the 8900 is definitely weaker by a lot. It's not a deal breaker by any means even though I leave it on vibrate most of the time during the week, but I have missed a few calls, SMS, etc due to not feeling it.
I'm pretty sure the vibrate feature is a hardware issue and not something controlled by software. I really don't know what all the buzz is about ( :p ), I love my new BB!
I have an "outside the box" solution to this issue. Add the sound of the vibrate to your profile so that you can feel it as well as hear it. I have attached the sound file from an 8310. Enjoy! :D
