I've have insurance it on my 8900. I forgot to take my last phone off my holster before I went for a ride on my motorcycle. It fell off on the highway going about 70. I wanted to turn around and get it so bad.. lol.. but I knew it was a wrap. Insurance worked out great!

I do have insurance for my 8900 also it only $6 bucks every month plus if my phone broke it or lost, stolen so insurance will take care of it with little money to pay for replacement or free.

Insurance is Insurance peace of mind.

I have never had a phone and I did not get insurance. It only makes sense to have it because if you lose, damage or someone steals it you will be responsible for purchasing a FULL PRICE device.

I have ALWAYS had insurance. It seems crazy not to. I do have several BB's (two 8100 and two 8120) for back up but, in the event something happens to mine I want to be able to replace it. Get the insurance.

I have never bought insurance, but then again I have never inquired about it through Rogers here in Canada. It's definitely not something they advertise.

But what if you don't qualify for a device upgrade with contract extension? The Curve 8900 costs $480 (at least, that's what I paid for mine since I didn't qualify for an upgrade (only five months in my current contract).

The deductable is a pain, but it's the monthly fee the one that stings. I pay $6/month for insurance on a T-Mobile Shadow and $10/month for the Curve 8900.

Think about how easy or hard it's going to be to replace your berry if it breaks, takes a dive or it gets lost/stolen. Can you afford $400+ to get a new one outright? Can you settle with a used one from eBay or Craiglist, or can you settle for an older but less expensive model? If you answered No to any of these questions, you might want to add the insurance.

If on the other hand, you are not too sold on your 8900 and are thinking of getting rid of it in the near future (resell it or give it to someone close to you), then don't bother with the insurance.
If I paid $480 for it, then I would get insurance! Since I got mine for a good deal and its only a 1 year contract, I didn't add it.

I don't think you should. When you factor in the deductible and the fees, you probably could have gotten the phone cheaper on craig's list or ebay. Not worth it.

Insurance is worth it to me. Yes I have warranty but if its lost or stolen its not replaced by warranty so there you go.

I got the insurance, and it was the smartest thing I ever did. When my 8900 wet the bed after an update, I got a replacement phone free of charge.

I have it because it covers theft and water damage. Regular warranty won't cover that. And anything can happen at college so I'm not taking chances.

I finally did get it -- just days before the opportunity to do so expired. I don't regret it and certainly won't if it's lost, damaged or stolen.

Having insurance is very important i think, i understand that there is a 12 month warranty but that only covers mechanical breakdown, i have insurance on my phone for 5 per month that covers liquid damage, damage if i drop it, theft, loss i would not think about having a blackberry and not having it insured

Who doesn't have insurance on smartphones? When my first HTC Touch crapped out on me, my provider replaced it for free albeit with a refurb but at no cost to me. Win.
