How many themes can you safely put on your bb? I read something about memory leak from too many themes. Or is it just a matter of how much memory do you want to eat up with themes?
    Thanks for any input.

depends on the size of the theme technically. I only leave the theme I'm using on my device to be safe.

I have had 12 themes at once loaded on the phone with no problem. Of course you can only use one at a time, but I would switch back and forth between them until I found one I liked. And yes, after I selected a theme I would pull the battery and restart the phone. I have a Storm if that matters.

I would say you should to try to minimize the amount of themes, limit to around 8 to 10 on your phone. You can always save additional themes on your computer and transfer back and forth using Desktop Manager. I usually keep around 6 themes at all times on my Curve 8330. You never know when you'll get bored with your theme....

Best to only have the standard BB themes as you need these to run the other themes.

Delete carrier themes if you don't use them with Maxmen.

I only have 3 other themes on my BB

The more free device memory you have the better the BB will run. Reduces lag and stuff like that.

    Less is more.

This really isn't true. The additional themes don't effect the running memory you have. For example if you have 35 meg of memory and you have 6 themes installed you will still have 35 meg of memory (unless one of the themes use more memory when you load it), therefore your bb is going to run the same as it did if you had only 1 theme on it.

And as for as taking up physical phone space, does it matter if you have 6 or 12 themes installed as long as you have free space on the phone? (which 99% of people do) Some people load the phone up with apps and other with themes.

Therefore unless you are actually running out of storage room on your phone then the amount of themes doesn't effect the operation of the phone.

The reason I say this is that when I first had my curve, I had it loaded up with themes and eventually I got a message saying I have no free device memory left.

I deleted all the themes I didn't use and my curve became more responsive.

I now have 24 meg free nowadays and my curve has never been so fast.

Installed themes take up device memory so the less installed themes you have the more memory you have free.

As you run apps it takes up memory, if you don't exit the apps correctly, they stay in memory. If you don't have a lot of free mem and you go under 5 meg free, the OS starts removing old messages, call logs and calender entrys to free up space.

I find that after using a few apps my curve slows down a bit. A quickpull later and all is good

I only have 2. My current theme, and another one I like that I sometimes use.

I used to have a bunch, but I found that:
#1. I rarely used them and they obviously take up memory
#2. When trying to find apps to delete they take that much longer to clear out piece by piece (especially if they have weird titles that you have to remember which is which).

I have about 2 or 3. Once I find one I like I usually just dump my other theme. Though there is one that I like to keep around.

I have three 3rd party themes and around 10 3rd party applications and my 8320 is being slow nowadays. I would love to know why. Are 10 3rd party applications a lot? I mean there are like 6 or 7 but would like to hear the worst case scenario. By the way, I just made a battery pull.

I had unlocked all the carrier themes and had four 3rd party themes installed. I found I began to run out of memory and my Berry was always running slow. Even a Battery pull only freed the free space to less than 12mb.

Removing all the other carrier themes (keep the default ones needed) and all the 3rd party ones with the exception of the one I used freed up my free space to over 20mb thus making everything run smoother.

My 2 cents are to remove all the themes you don't use. You can always add them back with desktop manager.
