Do I need to download anything prior to downloading the theme?

You need a theme to the calendar on your home screen. ALL themes for the 8900 right now are BETA. They will contain bugs and you should expect them to have bugs. Use them at your own risk only.

With that said, I have created one and there is a link to it in my signature. If you don't mind using a beta theme check mine out, you might like it.

Download a theme to my device?

If there is a link on the theme page saying "OTA" send that link to your blackberry (I just send myself an email to one of my other accounts that I get on my BB) and click on it there. It should download shortly.

If it does not have an OTA link, download it to your PC and use the desktop manager. From here... use google.

This function is theme dependant. Look for a theme that says "today" in the title is usually a good hint.
