    Hi

Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere but can't find it.

My 8900 T Mobile (UK) doesn't allow me to access my contacts when you press and hold the green Send key as my 8310 did.

It only brings up the call log. To access contacts I have to press trackball when Contact icon is highlighted.

Is there a setting I've not done correctly?

Much appreciated the help on this site

    Thanks

If you disable dialing from your home screen then you can press "A" to get the Address Book. Personally, I just press the green button and use the call log. If you type at the top of the call log, it will look up any number already in your address book by name, etc.

I too use the Call Log,but it is possible to set it to open on your contacts if you like.

When in the Phone app go:-

Menu - Options - General Options, and change Phone List View to 'Name'.

    Thanks for replying.

Aristile- If I press 'A' the phone locks.
I see now that you can access contacts through the top of the call log as you say.
Is this the same for all on the 8900 v the 8300?

After you are in your call log, you can THEN hold the send key and get to your contacts.

I know this is an 8900 thread, but I'm glad I read the post. It works on the Storm. I have it set so when I tap on my send key, it opens call log. But when I hold the send, it opens the contacts. Thanks!

The easiest way to look up your contacts, in my opinion, is to just type their name....if your on the home screen and start typing "Bobby" you will see his name come up and you can call him from there.

Holding "A" should lock the phone. But if you have "Dial from Home screen" DISABLED (call log - Menu - General Options - Dial From Home Screen = NO), you can use the shortcut keys for certain apps. (Look for the underlined Letter in the Menu Screen)
Here is a list of what works on my 8900.
    A - Contacts
    B - Browser
C - Composes new E-mail (opens contacts to chose who to send e-mail to)
    D - Memo Pad
    F - Profiles
    H - Help
    I - AIM
    K - Lock
    L - Calendar
    M - Messages
    N - Blackberry Messenger
    O - Options
    S- Search
    T- Tasks
    U - Calculator
    V - Saved Messages
    W - Wap Browser
    X - Windows Live Messenger
    Y - Yahoo Messenger

Mr Tolles = Dial from home screen/disabled = nice list of shortcuts.

Andy R 2007 = Dial from home screen/enabled = quick access to contacts.

Thanks very much for the tips. I'm learning.

Yes, I found a hidden icon the other day, I think it was in the applications folder (sorry, I've shifted things around now and nothing is in the default place )

You have to go into the folder, press the menu key and select show all, a compose icon and call logs icon appear.

I was so proud of myself for finding that ROFL
