What does this icon mean (Please refer to the attached image below and the icon on the left of the clock, over the "W" of Wednesday)

I am annoyed at what this icon means and is there anyway to view / remove it?

    Thanks in advance.

I think you have a message from a Blackberry service, either in BB messenger or your message in tray.

    Thanks for sorting it out.
It sucks that I cannot get rid of it; Without carrying out an upgrade. I like my apps in the current version its in.

Is there a way to disable this notification? It is sucking up too much real estate on my screen space!

LOL! Solution= Get rid of AppWorld!!!! If you absolutely need to have an app store on your device i recommend the CB AppStore client instead. Not as heavy, no bugs, no memory leaks, and cheaper apps.

I'm a little confused why you wouldn't want a more current version. With only a few exceptions, most apps are improved after upgrades, some by a large degree. Some upgrades make the app compatible with other upgrades to other apps or OS's.

I'll assume for all of you confused people that you don't use the Messages app, but rather separated inboxes for email and SMS. The App World upgrade notifications (and a few other message types) are only received in the Messages App. It might be hidden on your main icon screen or in a folder like Setup or Applications. Press MENU -> Show All to reveal any hidden apps. (You must do that again in each folder.)

If you want to permanently use Messages as your default inbox, in your SMS inbox press MENU. I think somewhere in there you can select to set Email/SMS inboxes: Combined.

Anyway once in Messages, keep clicking the U key to toggle Unread messages until you find the App World message.

2 options to be rid of the icon. The 1st is to click the icon. This will automatically open App World and route you to the upgrade. You can escape out without upgrading if you want.
The 2nd is to highlight the message but not click it. Pressing ALT+U toggles messages read/unread. ALT+U should mark it opened. (Or MENU and then Mark Opened. Same thing, ALT+U is a shortcut.)
