I'm new to all this blackberry stuff and I was wondering if anyone knew of any free apps that will make my bb curve 8530 go faster?

    Hi Ashley welcome to Crackberry!

We could really use some more info on what type of "faster" you are wondering about. Just over all quickness of the device - not really any apps that can do that. Once you get more experienced in blackberry's you can learn to install different operating systems, ones that people have taken and modified to go faster than the stock ones, but other than that there really isn't a way to make them go faster.

Are there apps that you are wondering about how to make them go faster...or what exactly are you wondering about?

There are actually some apps that optimizes your phone's RAM and making it a bit faster. But, the best way to keep your phone running smooth and fast, is updating it to the latest OS.

There are absolutely NO apps that can do this.

They do NOT optimize RAM in any way what so ever. They run the built in garbage collector to free space before the OS does. On devices with 256mb+ RAM you aren't going to get any benefit. Even on less RAM devices if you have lots of free space there is nothing any of those apps will do for you.

As I said before, there are no apps that can do this. Its impossible given the current BlackBerry API.

Please don't interrupt what Im saying as putting you down. Many of these products have slick marketing, they post fake reviews to fool people into thinking their apps will do something they dont. Also putting a large price tag on it people associate some value with them, when in reality its just overall junk.

Well, I've never really tried any of those apps. I just follow what the "description" say. I don't know whether they work or not, I was just answering what the poster was asking.

It is also important to understand that freeing up memory doesn't really "speed up" the device per se. The OP has a brand new phone, probably only a couple of apps installed. Going from lets say 190 meg free to 210 meg free will not do anything as the OS still has lots of room to work without issue. We really need more info from the OP as I'm unclear as to what the issue is. It could just be a new user who hasn't learned all the tricks of using the BB such as actually closing apps instead of exiting them. Lets see if we can get a few more details and take it from there.
