Never had a problem with my phone, put it on my nightstand last night like I always do and within about a half an hour, the screen lit up like it was trying to turn on. The hourglass was in the middle, but then after a few seconds it went off and the red light at the top of the phone came on. After a few seconds it goes off and the cycle starts all over again. I've tried taking the battery out, but that didn't work. Also tried actually turning it off, but the screen isn't up long enough for it to do that function.

Here is the latest OS for your model: http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/new...nguage-247389/

And here's the guide to upgrade:http://forums.crackberry.com/f5/upgr...step-z-188139/ It says it's for the 8100 model but it's the same method for all berry's. Just replace the OS in th link with the one for your model and ignore the BlingBall app and you're good to go!

By the way, just an FYI....I have never even put the software on my computer. Didn't think I needed to. Have the CD in the box still. Believe it is 4.2.2 OS, does that sound right?

In the "how to upgrade" link, there is a link to download the latest desktop software. You're best bet is to get the newest one and get it "Without Media Manager."

Well since they aren't working, for some odd reason, go to the top of the 83** series forum and the OS for your model will be stickied. Then go to the 8100 forum and the guide will be stickied.

Yes, the desktop manager should be next. Follow the upgrade steps and you'll be golden.

ok, got the software manager installed, but it asks to restart computer now or later? Also, in the next step of the guide, I would now instal "crackmem" or is that necessary?
    08-02-09 12:16 PM
  22. skullgame45's Avatar
Hmm, I was never asked to restart comp when I did this! I say don't worry about restarting.

Crackmem makes it easier to complete the process so yeah, go for it.

It says "you must restart your system for the configuration changes made to the to BB Desktop Software 4.6 to take effect. Click yes to restart now or no if you plan to restart later. So can I restart later?

If it says that, then go ahead and restart it. I just never had that happen when I upgraded softwares.
