I lost all my contacts after a restart and synching to a new gmail account. How do I get them back?

ok so I did a battery pull and now my contacts are doubled how do I fix it?

I didnt have a gmail account before, and I didnt even know that I synched....

I see. As far as the double contacts go. I am not sure if there is an easy way to get rid of them besides going through them 1 by 1. I would definitely try another battery pull.
