Ok, so I got a referb 8330 from VZW to replace my other 8330. I connected it to DM to restore all my data that I saved from my old 8330. I connected it and it said I had updates for my phone and asked if I wanted to updated now? I said yes and it started to update a bunch of stuff. Well it was almost done and said "connecting to device" and half way thru it froze. My phone had just the hour glass screen and then went to the options menu. I hit cancel on DM and dsiconnected my device. After that I could scroll thru the menu on my device but couldnt close out of it or select anything. It did say update complete on DM tho.

So then I reconnected to DM and tried to update the files again, this time it said I had just Korean and something else to add, so I did that, it froze again so I hit cancel and now my phone is stuck on the hour glass screen!!!!

    HELP!!!!

I have pulled the battery twice!

How long has it been stuck on the hour glass screen? Those phones could
    take minutes to reboot.

Do one more battery pull with the phone ON. If it doesn't resolve the issue
then you'll just need to re-load your OS. It's no biggie.

Why don't you download the latest OS for your 8330, delete the vendor.xml file located in
    c:/program files/common files/Research In Motion/apploader
After you have deleted it, double click apploader in the same file you deleted vendor.xml and then reinstall the OS.
If that doesn't work, there is probably something wrong with the refurbished model Verizon gave you ...
One thing I do not like about carriers is that rather then sending a brand new model (which is what they should do, what is warranty?) they send a used one. Totally not fair to us.

Ok, so I just had it connected to DM to load the rest of the apps that needed to load. It tried to, tried to connect to the device for like 5 mins, the device had the hour glass, then went to the options menu. Same problem.

Go to options>security options>general options>click the menu button, and click wipe handheld. Then try to install this os

    v4.5.0.127

This is the latest stable release from Bell Mobility in Canada. All you will have to do is delete the vendor.xml file.

    Curve 8330 OS v4.5.0.127

Just follow the instructions in the thread and you'll be good. That's the
newest one. If you want a specific one you'll just need to do a quick search
    on the site.

Im downloading .138 for 8330m devices. I believe mine is an "m" device since it shows MEID numbers when you select status.

Usually when you install an OS on your own, there's really no reason to click
"Ok" to the updates that you get prompted with. You could also use
CrackMem to install your OS and delete things that you can't delete on your
own. Stuff that you may not need. Such as voice dialing, tty, etc...

Did you install the software for the 8330, not the 8330m?

Try this software. This is specifically for the 8330m, and is released by U.S. Cellular. Just remember to delete vendor.xml

    US Cellular 8330m v4.5.0.138

If this doesn't even work, Verizon definately sent you a rotten berry.
