About 3 days ago, my 8310 stopped connecting to AT&T. Mind, I only get one bar of service in my house, but I've never had this problem. It all started with the "SOS" showing up randomly, even at my boyfriend's house where I get full reception. But now, it just won't connect. It would say "Searching for Network" for about 10 minutes, then it would just say "Not Connected." I've tried resetting my phone a few times, I've tried leaving the battery out for a few minutes, but even when I do that, my phone will just turn back on, flash "Not Connected" again, and then turn off the connection so the symbol says "OFF" as if I had turned it off myself (I always make sure I restore the "Mobile Connection" before I take the battery out). My phone might be connected to the server for a few hours or so, but then all of a sudden "POOF!" there goes my connection. I'm at my wits end with this, please help! Can't afford a new phone yet, though I'm due an upgrade this month so if I have to I'll save, but I can't get rid of this phone! Love it too much!

When you got the phone did they give you the newest sim card? I know older sim cards had problems. Also, have you taken the sim card out and cleaned it of to make sure the contacts arn't dirty?

Well, I've had this sim for about a year and a half, and I tried it in my boyfriend's phone and it kept reception all day. Maybe I should try getting a new sim, not sure though, I just hope it's not my actual phone messed up, no warranty left

Well...if the sim is known to be working then it has to be device related. Try cleaning the sim contacts on the BB and make sure it gets a good contact. If that doesn't help then it's time to look at the OS. You may need to back up the device and then load the latest software to see if that corrects the problem. If that's not it then it's likely hardware and if you don't have insurance it's time to see if an upgrade is coming available soon. For OS directions see the top of the forum for the 83xx Curve and find the sticky for the 8310.

Thank you so much. Q: I've got a macbook running BB pocketmanager...Should I run the BB software on my PC to handle the OS issue if that is what it is, or is it not even related to the BB software?

you could try an OS upgrade to see if that helps. i would upgrade using a PC over a Mac.
