Driftwood pic now, anybody switching to it?
- Well there's a pic of the mythical BlackBerry Driftwood, well not it's not so mythical. So who is selling their 8900 or getting rid of it for the Driftwood? I know I am. I've been waiting for this ever since I got my 8320.
T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700 Glimpsed in the Wild! | CrackBerry.com08-10-09 07:00 PMLike 0 - I dunno if i'd be too keen on the trackpad. After all, one of the main reasons why i got a Blackberry was for the trackball as it is so easy and quick to browse through menus compared to my older phones.
The Driftwood looks nice, but i think i'll be sticking with my 8900 for a tad longer, mind you, i doubt the Driftwood will be out in the UK anytime soon lol08-10-09 07:14 PMLike 0 - Depending on the final specs like processor and memory, I might just sell my unlocked 8900 with all the accessories. I have so much stuff. Black bezel, AT&T and T-Mo keyboard, black batt cover, silicone case, Otterbox Defender case, hard plastic case, etc....and much more.
But...all depends on proc and mem.08-10-09 07:19 PMLike 0 - Depending on the final specs like processor and memory, I might just sell my unlocked 8900 with all the accessories. I have so much stuff. Processor: Not 100% sure actually, but am hearing its a Tavor processor that may be running even a bit quicker than the Bold's 624MHz processor (definitely seems snappy)08-10-09 07:28 PMLike 0 - The Driftwood is the T-Mobile Onyx. This is what Kevin said about the CPU in the Onyx review.
It's also got the same amount of RAM as the 8900. And that's a ton of accessories. Sadly the 8900 didn't hold its value like the Bold so that sucks for you. It also sucks for me.08-10-09 07:36 PMLike 0 - I played with an 8520 for a bit at a T-Mobile store. I was surprised at how well it worked for me. I just started a T-Mo contract, so I'd be nowhere near an upgrade when the Driftwood comes out. I will be envious of the trackpad though.08-10-09 07:39 PMLike 0
- I'm the same way too except I didn't care to sell the 8320 I had, I just gave it to the person on the line that was open that I had. Now my line is open for upgrade.08-10-09 07:46 PMLike 0
- I can't wait. Been OOC with T-Mobile for months and just waiting for something to push me either to close my account or upgrade. So glad I didn't fall for all the Tour hype.

08-10-09 08:16 PMLike 0 - so what's the best way for us 8900 owners to upgrade? buy the 9700 at full price then sell our 8900s?
don't know if that's worth the hassle. i have a feeling RIM will release some info on a real qwerty berry with a touchscreen.08-10-09 10:35 PMLike 0 - I will give it a once-over when it comes out but I doubt I will give up my 8900 for it - but you never know. The big reason for me is that my current carrier only supports EDGE (I may end up switching pending a buy-out) so if the Driftwood doesn't have the Advanced EDGE technology then that's a big reason for me to stay put. Since it is a 3G device, I highly doubt it is going to have the Advanced EDGE technology included in the unit.08-10-09 10:58 PMLike 0
- Traitor!!! lol jk, but I wouldn't get it. Reviewers have said that it is a "Luxe Less" version of the 8900... No gps either. Plus the rubber coating over all of the side and top buttons just looks kinda cheap IMO. I love my 8900. Solid as a rock. No reason or money for me to switch LOL08-11-09 12:19 AMLike 0
- I think I might keep ma 8900 just cuz tha only really big plus every1 seems 2 b talkin about tha trackpad and tha 3g.
Ma trackball doesn't really bother me and T-Mo service sux @ ma job either way. Ma co worker has tha G1 and we have tha same single bar for service.
So I doubt I'm switchin thus far.08-11-09 12:39 AMLike 0 - Traitor!!! lol jk, but I wouldn't get it. Reviewers have said that it is a "Luxe Less" version of the 8900... No gps either. He's talking about the 8520.08-11-09 01:03 AMLike 0 -
- I'm not near my contract, but still getting it the week it is available - for the subsidized price. I did the same with the 8900 in March. Signed a 2 year, which extended me a year or so. Since my update wouldve come around November. Same thing this time around.
