I'm not sure if there is a thread for this, but I couldnt seem to find anything...
For some reason, when I'm talking to someone on BBM it will suddenly stop showing me the messages. I know I'm getting the messages because it will show them in the messages list. However, when I open the conversation screen it stops at the last message I sent.
Sometimes it will show like I'm having two seperate conversations with the same person, and deleting one will show the other, but for the most part I end up having to power off and lose the messages.
which actually is another issue i have lol. Somehow all my stuff tries to save to my device memory instead of my memory card no matter how many times i change it.
That's what I was talking about. i set my pictures and music to save to my media card all the time. But sure enough, next time i check it's back to saying saving on device memory. Don't know why, but I guess thats another issue all together...
I have some games and stuff, but i really dont know how to tell if they are on my device memory or memory card.
The early version of 8330 software, v4.3xx, have a known bug that causes the picture save location to revert back to device memory after a restart. That problem and several others like "Speaker Blast" have been corrected with the upgrade to v4.5xx Device software.
Use the link at the top of the 83xx sub forum to download and install the latest carrier approved software or log on to your carriers website for an automated upgrade to their approved OS software.
That may also fix your BlackBerry Messenger problem.
17 + Mb is plenty of free memory for normal operation.
if it were 12 or below Id start to worry, it should function just fine with that 17 anyways, if OP had of said I have 8xxx,xxx then Id consider it a memory issue.
yea 17 is f i n e, but you and i both know it could be better.
i know my BB runs better when it is at least in the 30s.
Ok, so question, how do i get my file free from the 17's to the 30's as you say, I went through my apps and got rid of some that i dont' need and my file free went up to 18's. I have a 4 GB card and i save all pics and music and anything else important to the card. What could i possibly get rid of to get that high a number, does that make sense???
Languages, preloaded pics, carrier themes, etc. There is a program called "CrackMem" that will allow you to remove the carrier preloaded junk you don't need off of your device...
Most versions of 4.5 have the languages and preloaded pics already removed, RIM realized just how much device memory they took up. A picture on a BlackBerry averages 1mg in size...

Which is one of the reasons why people who just get a BlackBerry, and do not have a media card, end up locking up the device or start losing emails, SMS, the usual. That's why without a media card, you can't even record a video, it would use up all your device menory...
My free file boots up at 48.. I took it right down to the apps etc that i know for sure I NEEDED.. no carrier theme, VAD, languages, tasks, help, memo pad etc all that I took off...I have close to 20 apps installed.
