cleaning a Trackball?
I've had my 8350i since about April however my track ball is a nice shade of black :( I've googled track ball cleaning but, most that come up is how to disassemble the whole thing and remove the ball. I'm too much of a clutz to remove the ball myself since i have a bad feeling i'll break it even with good instructions. Would using a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol and rubbing the heck out of the ball while still in the phone work (turned off of course)? I've heard of a few people doing that but haven't heard the outcomes. I'd go out and buy a new trackball but i'm not sure if my local cell phone store..where i purchased the phone will install it for me? All help is welcome :D

NOOOOO take the trackball out of your phone!!!
its really is NOT hard at all!
pop the little ring off with a flat head screw driver and then the trackball will come right out.
then clean it. sheesh!

Ya you really don't want to "rub the heck" out of it while in the phone as you might damage something. It really is simple to remove, clean and replace the trackball. You can also buy another instead of cleaning it, but the remove, replacement will be the same. There are tons of threads here on how to do this easily and they are very simple instructions to follow.

it's really easy to remove a trackball! If I can do it, anybody can! Plus, you can change the trackball color..

You cannot remove the trackball by just popping off the silver ring on the 8350i. You would actually need to disassemble the phone. And in the case of cleaning the trackball you would not be able to clean the trackball back to the fresh white color like it was when you bought it. It would be better if you just bought a brand new one
