Buzz during Call
I just recently, as in today, had this problem when I'm talking to someone. When they talk they buzz a bit at the end depending on the pitch. It's hard to explain but it's like the bass is too high on a stereo and it rattles. That same sound happens through my earpiece. Now I've had this phone for about 4 months and it hasn't been near any water. It literally just happened around 6PM tonight. I've done a battery pull already, any other ideas?
UPDATE 8/22/09: I went to the Sprint store and showed them the eTicket that Sprint had provided me, the guy said you have to do a software upgrade before I can replace it! And he said the vibration I'm getting is from the skin cover I had on it. I told him the skin cover I had on the phone since I got it is now starting to make my calls buzz? I'm downloading .169 right now and if this doesn't fix it then I'm calling him up and demanding a replacement.
I updated the software and no surprise it still didn't fix it. I will be getting a replacement on Monday!

What apps do you have on your BB. IIRC the addon app has the buzzing every 30 seconds when your on the phone and twice after you hang up.
-
I just have the standard apps that come with the phone. I haven't changed a thing either, it just happened out of the blue. It seems to be getting worse to the point where it's hard to hear what someone is saying. I called Sprint last night who set me up with a repair or replace shop. Hopefully, the repair won't be much, but I still should be covered by the RIM warranty since the phone is less than 6 months old and this is a manufacturer's defect.
-
Another idea: have you been talking to the same person when you're experiencing this problem? If you meant 'bluetooth' or 'headset' as opposed to 'earpiece', I'd bet it isn't a problem with the phone, but rather the other person's phone or perhaps the network.
-
But you're right, if it turns out that it is a manufacturer's defect, the RIM warranty is like all phones and covers you for the first year.
-
No I've ruled that out already, I talked to 3 people and it happens on my voicemail too. No headset or bluetooth just the phone.

Bugger. Looks like it's time for a trip into your Sprint store to make a swap unit request.

Yeah I guess so :( The weird thing is that I babied this phone! It doesn't have a scratch on it and it's never been dropped! I have a case on it 24/7. Just unlucky I guess, but regardless Blackberrys are the best phones and I will never go back to a Windows Mobile phone. I'll update when I get my new or repaired phone. Maybe they'll replace it with a Tour:D

Sprint recommended an OS update when they haven't released one? Did I miss something? The only .169 update I've seen released was Cellular South's release yesterday. ????? What OS were you running before?
-
That's what I was thinking(the .169). You might run into problems if you try to exchange a sprint phone running a non sprint released os.

That's what I told them! I said my phone was updated as much as Sprint released. The service guy told me there are other updates that may fix the problem even if they're not Sprint. But I hardly see how when I've ran the same OS for probably over a month that it would randomly start messing up the earpiece sound. Regardless, I jumped through their hoops and did as they said to and it didn't fix it. So a replacement Curve will be waiting for me on Monday. Hopefully they mixed the boxes up and gave me a Tour instead :)

my phone does that too. its not a software issue, or any apps. my dads 8330 did it from the first day he got it, but mine never did. it started when my sister got mad at me and slammed my phone on our kitchen counter. my best guess is that the screen itself has become dislodged slightly and is causing the buzzing. i think it is a physical problem, not software. i still dont know how to fix it though. i took it to sprint and they said they could replace it with a refurbished phone, which im not too happy about.
one question i have though... i read that "refurbished phones" might actually start turning into the new tour instead of the 8330. how likely is this? when is my best chance to get lucky with a new tour? if i could get an upgrade for free, i wouldnt mind a refurbished phone.
