    I just got a brand new 8900 and do not yet have the BB service. I powered on the device without the SIM card and I got a small black clockface for a min. or so then it goes black for a couple seconds and then the clockface again this repeats endlessly.

    I thought it was the lack of SIM, so I put my current SIM in and it booted once and allowed me to set the time and attempt to connect to a wi fi network at which point it started rebooting.

    What to do?
    Should I just take it back to the phone company?

    Yea, I would get a replacement from my carrier if I were you. It definitely should not be doing that.

    You should definitly take it back to the phone company. Your phone should work correctly right out if the box.

    I would try one thing before taking it back remone the micro SD memory card if it has one.

    yeah get a replacement, i picked one up last night from best buy, right out of the box i put my sim card in and tried using the phone after i had left the store and the ear piece didn't even work..so they gave me a brand new one you have a 30 day from where you bought it or a year from rim.

    Get it replaced asap. If you got it from tmobile you have 14 days unless you're in California.

    Mine kept doing that to, they replace for you no problem. well tmobile does.
