I am a Bold owner and not familiar with the 8900, is there anything I should do right away to make my sisters experience with the phone more enjoyable? e.g. how is the OS out of the box? Should I upgrade to the latest OS?

    I would assume:

    -Upgrade to latest OS
    -DL necessary apps

    Anything else?

I thik it all depends on her (the user) How she wants the phone to run, you know what I mean? I recommend leaving it factory and just helping her with the tools to tweak if she wants to...

Are there multiple .250 OS carrier versions or just the italian one, TIM I think?

Carrier version doesn't matter. The instructions direct you to delete the vendor.xml file, which is the only vendor specific portion of the OS package.

Let her hit the free apps and tell her to buy a case. Maybe even a Seidio 360 to keep makeup out of it.

    Get maratick too.

You should deffinitely get her a Screen Protector ASAP. The 8900 has a pretty sensitive screen compared to the 83xx series devices

I wouldn't download BBM5.0 yet because I have been having delivery problems lately. May not be the same for everyone else but know at least one person is still having problems.

Definitely upgrade to os .250 and get a screen protector... It is really easy to scratch. I put an invisible shield on my GF's curve 8900 because I knew she would put it in her purse with her other stuff and so it was definitely going to get scratched.

As for specific things... There's really not much that is super specific. Maybe put a specific wallpaper for her that she might like. But like others have said, let her experience BB for herself and pick what she wants etc...

Alright I was wondering about the carrier because with the Bold the Rogers version runs better for a lot of people then the CSL version... Apparently 250 does not have this issue. And I will order the screen protector asap. Thanks for the reccomendations.
