I am trying to download music from pc to blackberry for the first time. have mass storage turned on, mtp turned on. error message comes up on phone: unable to open protected media session. what does this mean and how do I correct this, thanks Fred

MTP? What is that? I had a 8520 and I don't recall that at all.

Do you have a SD card in there? It is always best not to waste the not so large memory on legacy devices. Anyway, if you don't, all files should go into the file structure and never into the root.

//device/blackberry/music would be a good place to put your music.

I also suggest you try turning MassStorage off and plugging it to Deskto Software. It isn't perfect, but it will allow you to access the device memory.
