I have an 8530 from Bell that I bought on April 16, 2010.

It was working fine until tonight when I went to sync it to my macbook like I do every night when it said there was no OS on the phone and I needed to download the new one.

Apparently it wiped itself during my 5 minute commute - i thought the battery had just died and it needed to be charged. Fortunately my contacts, calendar and pictures were all backed up but now I can't send an email as it tells me I need to set up email, except I am still receiving emails and they are both are on the list - gmail.com and me.com. Also I can't seem to access my bbm contacts, games or other apps.

Should I be looking at getting a replacement/repair or should I try a hard reset to "start from scratch" and see if it happens again first.

    Nope. Resend your servicebooks.

BBM has an restore option that will get your contacts back (provided it has something to load them from).

    Apps... Go download them again...
