On some screen captures on this site i have noticed that text is displayed above the time. Some times it is the name of the carrier sometimes it is user specific... how do you change this or even activate it. My screen shows nothing above the time.

This is usually theme controlled.

Or it could be the name of a wireless network that the person with a wifi enabled phone is connected to. It shows up as "mobile network - home network"

Yeah, or their using a Stock Carrier theme.
