I have a Blackberry Curve 8350i. Is there a way to turn off the speaker while NOT on direct connect? The speaker symbol above the $ only seems to work while I am in a direct connect call... my other Nextel had a big speaker button on top, but I can't figure this one out.

Casper's way works, but the BlackBerry doesn't do DC as well as the Moto phones.

Another way would be to change your profile to vibrate. Assuming your on .204, it'll mute the speaker.

This is exactly the way to turn it on and off more than just temporarily like the 'speaker' button does, there is a but though.
Don't forget to after you select speakerphone 'on' or 'off', push the menu again and choose 'save'.
