For some reason the Curve (v4.6.1.314 Platform 4.2.0.135) that my co-worker has does not have the Auto Update Time Zone option, but my Bold 9700 (v5.0.0.405 Platform 4.1.0.112) does. He recently traveled to Australia and inquired about how to set it to auto-update. I told him where, but the option didnt exist on his.

Is this a fundamental difference between the Bold and Curve, or is it something more closely related to the OS/firmware version?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello there, ayemac.

    Welcome to CrackBerry Forums.

It's possible that your co-worker doesn't own a Curve 3G, since it's using 4.6 OS (IIRC, Curve 3G comes preloaded with OS 5.0)

He probably owns a Curve 8520 (Gemini), and i think a software update to OS 5.0 should solve the problem.

BTW, Bold 9700 is OS 6.0 ready, you should update it too.

In terms of differences between both phones:

Camera, Screen Resolution and Processor are the main ones

Curve 8520 has a 2.0mp no auto-focus, no flash camera
Bold 9700 has a 3.2mp with auto-focus and flash camera

    Curve 8520 has a 320 x 240 screen resolution
    Bold 9700 has a 480 x 360 screen resolution

    Curve 8520 has a 512MHz processor
    Bold 9700 has a 624MHz processor

I think those are the main differences, OS related, yes, 4.6 and 5.0 are different, that could be another reason.

    Hope my info helps.

Ever since Daylights savings time in March, My phone constantly changes time zones...all day between Atlantic and Eastern time. And when it is doing it, it won't send texts and make calls.

It's truly not an issue to update the time manually, and I've suggested to do so. I think, more than anything, we're just curious why it doesn't exist.

Just found out that he does indeed have the 8520. He said he tried to update to something higher, but v5.0 did not exist. He said his only option was what he currently has.

On a side note, I just checked my software update, and I could only go to something slightly higher than what I have.

Any ideas on how to upgrade his to v5.0 (or mine to v6 for that matter)? It sounds like that might fix the issue.

    Thanks.
