I wish I was not techy type right now. When I got this lil gismo (BB8300) I saw another spoke for my life-wheel. But when I installed DM to my PC it deleted about 10 quicklaunch icons from my system tray. Woo Hoo one new spoke and 10 busted ones. ARRRRRGH I can only remember one of the proggies I used from there. Now I just sit and stare at the toolbar wondering what to do.
There are only 3 (three) types of people in the world.
1. Those who make things happen.
2. Those who watch things happen
3. And people like me that wonder what the **** just happened.
To make matters worse, the original owners email setup is still in this BB and I can't figg how to delete them. I thought DM would take care of the small things. I'm almost wishing I had not ordered the new t-ball for it. It's made a mess of things and I can't even use it.
I don't have a backup image for this PC and now I fear it is dinked.
I am tempted to try and upgrade the lil gismo from .110 to .187 and see if that clears the ghosts from it but until the new t-ball arrives I can only sit and stare at it.
maybe I can trade this stupid gismo for a surf-fishing pole
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

Try the steps in this thread to remove the original owner's e-mails.
OH GREAT!
install finished and now the pc is frozen

If you have XP or higher, you should have System Restore running by default. You can restore your system to the point before you installed DM and find what you're missing.
But i'm an admin/techy and prefer NOT to backup. Rebuilding is more fun.
besides, wondering what i lose by restoring is yes another reason
I HATE CONFUSERS
PS: It's an inherited portable running XP Home 2002 w/sp3 (actually crashes less often than my home PC)

An admin would have known to look in the event log and see when and why the quicklaunch buttons dissapeared. DM wouldn't have done it. Calm down on the red bull, do a little research and you would have saved yourself alot of ranting.
Admins/techys prefer to back up so we dont have to go through a bunch of nonsense when a crash happens. Geek squad pc tech troopers are the only types that would say they dont backup because they wish to rebuild. You would rather rebuild a DC, AD forest, exchange environment etc just because you didnt want to back it up? No you wouldn't.

ok no, dm did not do it. the install did it.
it got all my crap out of the way so as to do a clean istall. would have been nice if it restored my settings whe it was done. mmmkay!
and I don't do red bull

With the talk of hating confusers you sound like my friend Don. He used that same phrase. LOL

It's really the programers they spend so much time "in the program" it becomes FIRST nature. And it is still totally foreign to the rest of us.
That is why I say "they" spelled it wrong. NOT computers but confusers.
I totally understand the hardware, off/on, yes/no, do,don't, 0/1 so simple.
P.S notable quote: "computers make very fast very accurate mistakes"
Just got an email with a very sharp edge.
Seems someone is SPAMing using my email addy OR....my PC was a BOT for a virus and SPAMMing the users on another website I became a member of. And how are you fine people (members) fairing?
glad to see youre still at it-I guess that Prosac didnt help, huh?
I needed that chuckle, I'm still flooding my pc with penicillin.
Still had active viruses this morning even after yesterdays update.
(don't click on adds for free stuff)
just launching the ad starts the infection process
then it just keeps downloading more spywares and trojans
Spysweeper & NAV corp just can't keep up, I'm probably still infected.
Ahhh...now I feel much better. This thread is great therapy for those who think they may be on the verge of losing their marbles. One trek through this jungle-o-whacked will make anyone realize that, by comparison, they aren't doing so bad after all.
