I've downloaded the Facebook application twice now from Facebook.com and the icon still won't appear on my phone. What should I do?

I'm very unfamiliar with Blackberry...I have the 8330, just got it today. Other than that, no clue. Is there something I should look for to update it?

From your main screen go to options, then About... Among other things it will show your phone OS... she be 4.x.x.xx something something and then hop out of that go to advanced options, applications and check your facebook and see what version you're running

It is possible. Go to settings>options>about to see your OS. Did you download FB from your FB icon on your BB? Where did you download it from?

Your OS should be up to date. I think its under the Communities icon to begin with

Why would the OS be up to date? The OP just got the phone today

My version is v4.5.0.131 (Platform 3.4.0.25). And there is no way for me to access my Facebook without going to my browser and viewing it as a regular webpage because the icon won't appear on my screen at all, so I can't see what version of Facebook I'm running. I clicked on the 'download Facebook for your phone' or whatever, and the icon still hasn't appeared, despite downloading it twice and restarting the phone both times, after receiving confirmation that the download was 100% complete.

And what is a "communities" icon? My bb has no such thing.

Because unless that phone has been on the back of the shelf for 5 months it has the new OS. Sprint ran out of curves for 2 weeks in March because they were held back to load the new OS
